On Saturday the 28th May 2016, the team of Britannia School Moscow had the pleasure of being part of the annual Angelovo Day. Angelovo is a residential complex located 8km north of the Britannia School campus. We set up a large play area in the centre of Angelovo where our native English speaking teachers offered many fun activities for the children as little as 2. The Head teacher Mrs. Roberts and the Nursery teacher Miss Kelly spent hours painting children’s faces painting. They painted a range of designs from my little pony to Spiderman. One little boy in particular was so excited to be transformed into Iron Man. Some of the most popular designs of the day included dolphins and butterflies. The face painting was so popular that we had to administer a waiting list. The little residents of Angelovo proved to be quite disciplined and organised.
Children who were waiting were able to independently take part in two other activities. A large game of hopscotch was available to play alongside a sensory tub. The sensory tub contained jelly balls, slimy snakes and different sea creatures that we brought from Britain. The children were fascinated by the opportunity to play in the sensory tub, which is a great activity to build their fine motor skills.
Next to the Britannia School face painting station, our Reception teacher Miss Kagan was busy making royal crowns with the children using a range of coloured glitters, sparkles, paint and gems. The crowns turned out to be very popular, and towards the end of the day the central Angelovo had a high concentration of little princesses per sq. foot. It appeared that the parents were comfortable rubbing shoulders with the little royals.
Our director of strategy Mr. Vladislav Riabiouk and head of administration were on hand to give out the Britannia School balloons to the little ones. We also premiered Britannia School “The Possibilities are endless” banner.
All of us at Britannia School felt that it was a great opportunity to discuss British schooling with the parents and in particular the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The parents were very keen to learn about the way we teach at Britannia School Moscow.
The organisers of the event did a fabulous job. Everything was perfect. We really enjoyed our time at Angelovo Day and we hope to visit again soon!
