Britannia School students had a fantastic time celebrating British National Storytelling Week. Each year group focused on different stories. Pre-nursery learnt about Spot the dog and his adventures. Nursery had a great time focusing on Julia Donaldson stories such as “ Snail and the Whale” and What the Ladybird heard”.

Our Reception class focused on the Eric Carle classic ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Throughout the week, the children did a range of activities related to this story such as a cut and paste sequencing activity, a creative writing activity where the children had to imagine what they would eat if they were the hungry caterpillar, and a beautiful art project where the children created butterflies in the style of Eric Carle.

The oldest students in our school focused on the traditional story of Peter Rabbit by British author Beatrix Potter. They produced some wonderful pieces of writing where they created their own characters and endings to the story.

At the end of the week all students came to school dressed as their favourite book characters and took part in a whole school assembly. The work the student’s had created over the course of the week was displayed in an exhibition and all the parents were invited to take a look.

We really love stories at Britannia School!
