Learning

Learning is child centered and it is a child’s own interests and curiosity that drives their learning. Play and communication are the major pathways in learning.

Our class teachers are native English speakers who are fully qualified and have years of professional experience. They are supported by English speaking teaching assistants.

British Curriculum

At Britannia we follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS). EYFS is a framework for children’s development from birth to 5 years of age.

It has four main themes, namely:

  • A Unique Child – every child is a competent learner from birth and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  • Positive Relationships – children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and carers.
  • Enabling Environments – the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending a child’s development and learning.
  • Learning and Developing – children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important.

How We Teach

Britannia School pupils are encouraged to achieve their learning objectives earlier than their peers in other schools in Moscow or even the U.K. It is important to note that teachers incorporate fun and games children love to play into the academic day. This approach fosters a perfect balance of teacher and child led play.

We have high expectations of our children. We believe that our small class sizes and highly qualified and motivated staff allow us to cover all subjects in depth.

Our Curriculum incorporates Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and includes science-based topics which have been carefully simplified to allow small, manageable and achievable objectives to be met.
